Shopping in Tabuk

Also today in Tabuk, I went to a custom tailor to have a fiited Thobe made. Tabuk presents a fantastic opportunity to explore local markets and boutiques, where skilled artisans and craftsmen display an array of beautifully tailored thobes. Whether you're looking for a classic white thobe or one adorned with intricate embroidery, the options are abundant. The shopping experience itself is a delightful journey, as you engage with local vendors and learn about the cultural significance of each design.

Saudi men typically wear this traditional dress; a long, ankle-length, flowing robe-type garment which is usually white or light colored cotton in warm weather and darker colored wool in cool weather.

I also was fitted for a ghutra which is a large, square-shaped cloth, typically made of cotton. It is used to protect the face in the event of sandstorms. It is normally white or red-and-white checked.

Native Saudi’s see it as a sign of respect when westerners wear the traditional dress. I am excited to share in these traditions.
