Gratitude. Humility. Inspiration.

Those are the three words that keep recurring as I reflect on another incredible Sand Flea gathering.

Every year, I count down the days to this event. It’s a rare, protected space where an extraordinary group of innovators, educational leaders, and visionaries come together to challenge longstanding assumptions, share untamed ideas, and collectively imagine what’s possible for the future of learning. And every single year, when the final session wraps up, I’m left with that familiar, bittersweet feeling—wishing we had just a few more hours to keep the momentum going.

Fortunately, the beauty of this community is that the dialogue never really ends, and there is always another Sand Flea on the horizon. 🌊🏖️

The Power of Being the Smallest Mind in the Room

One of the greatest gifts of the Sand Flea gathering is a powerful, humbling lesson in leadership: you should never aim to be the smartest person in the room.

Stepping into a space surrounded by brilliant, fiercely curious, and passionate minds can feel a little intimidating at first. But far more than that, it is profoundly energizing. It is a genuine privilege to step back, listen deeply, learn, and grow alongside peers who consistently push the boundaries of how we think about school leadership, culture, and strategy.

A Culture Where Ideas Flourish

Innovation doesn't happen in a vacuum, nor does it happen without psychological safety and warm hospitality.

A heartfelt thank you to Joshua J. Clark and the entire Landmark School team for your incredible generosity and unwavering belief in this community. Year after year, you create an environment where connections deepen, raw ideas mature into actionable strategies, and the future of education gets just a little bit clearer.

I leave this year’s gathering with a full heart, a notebook brimming with possibilities, and immense gratitude for the people who make this network so transformative.

Until the next gathering…

Deeply grateful to share this journey with such remarkable thinkers and colleagues:
