I am Thankful.....

As we enter into the much deserved Thanksgiving Break I wanted to share my gratitude for you and my thankfulness to be part of the All Saints Episcopal School family.
Over the past few weeks I have been very mindful of the blessings we have as I have shared heartfelt moments at Grandfriends Day, Pow Wows, US Community Service Day, Harvest Days on the Learning Farms, chapel services, and many more.
This community is a blessing in my life, as I know it is in yours. It is truly amazing to think about all the ways we are blessed by those around us. The words “think” and “thank” are both derived from the Latin tongēre. It is really no surprise that they hail the same linguistic heritage. To be able to truly give thanks we have to think on our blessings.
I am thankful for the love, support, curiosity, passion, drive, creativity, encouragement, and laughs that I share and enjoy with all of you.
I am often reminded of the quote that reads,
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is the present. It is called the present because it is a gift. Don’t ever take it for granted.”
Brother David Steindl-Rast, a Benedictine monk writes on “the gentle power” of gratefulness, he describes gratitude as a two part process. We must first experience something very valuable, then we must realize that it is truly a freely given gift.
So, as we enter Thanksgiving Break let’s truly make it a time of “thanksgiving” as we share our love and gratitude with those around us.
