Practicing What We Preach: Insights from Our Own Mission & Data Strategic Retreat
There is a profound difference between advising organizations on how to transform and doing the deep, reflective work yourself.
I’m wrapping up our recent Mission & Data Team Retreat with an immense sense of gratitude. Taking time away from the daily work to engage in the very same mission-driven, data-informed strategic work we facilitate for schools and organizations across the country was both grounding and deeply energizing.
Walking the Talk: When Facilitators Become the Participants
It is a uniquely powerful experience when the people sitting around the table are the same strategists, analysts, and executive facilitators who design organizational transformations for independent schools nationwide.
When you turn the mirror inward, the bar for authenticity, intentionality, and strategic design is exceptionally high. We didn't just review high-level goals; we tested our own frameworks, challenged our assumptions, and engaged with data with the same critical eye we bring to our clients. We don’t just advocate for effective, high-impact retreats and strategic design—we live it.
Investing in Ourselves to Better Serve Others
In the fast-paced world of educational consulting, it’s easy to focus entirely on external deliverables and client needs. But taking the time to invest in our own strategy, culture, and team alignment isn't a luxury—it's essential to maintaining the quality of our work.
By sharpening our internal alignment, unpacking our own data, and strengthening our relational connections, we walk away as even better partners for the schools, boards, and leaders who trust us to guide their future.
I am incredibly thankful to work alongside such talented, thoughtful, and visionary colleagues. Investing in our team ensures that every school community we partner with gets the absolute best of who we are.
