I was privileged to spend time with the incredible community at St. Luke's Episcopal School in San Antonio, Texas, working together on next-level governance and strategic visioning.

There is a distinct energy when you step onto an Episcopal school campus. At St. Luke’s, under the thoughtful guidance of Michael Jenkins and his exceptional leadership team, mission and identity are far more than text in a handbook or phrases painted on a wall—they are living, breathing principles. They genuinely shape the daily student experience and serve as the compass for how the leadership team and board think about the future.

When a school has such a clear, grounded sense of who they are, the strategic planning process becomes less about reinventing the wheel and more about unlocking full potential. During our working sessions, we focused on how intentional governance can propel a school from a strong present into an extraordinary future. We wrestled with big questions, mapped out strategic horizons, and looked at how proactive leadership can foster long-term sustainability while remaining fiercely loyal to core institutional values.

And, as always, being back home in Texas for a little while was a wonderful bonus. Taking in some of the local San Antonio sights and enjoying the warmth of Texas hospitality was the perfect backdrop for a few days of deep, collaborative work.

I left San Antonio deeply energized by the vision, commitment, and heart of the St. Luke's community. I’m profoundly grateful for the great conversations, inspiring leaders, and the ongoing opportunity to help thoughtful independent school communities imagine—and build—their next chapter.
